Postal Reform? Reintroduced Soon?

Some in the industry believe that Jason Chaffetz will reintroduce the postal reform legislation from last session. It could be as early as the first weeks of February.

The full committees for the House and the Senate are now in place to move it forward and the subcommittees should be defined soon.

The House Oversight and Government Reform committee maintains the same leadership with Chaffetz serving as the Chairman and Elija Cummings as the Ranking Member.

On the Senate side, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will be led by Ron Johnson and Claire McCaskill. Note the large representation from rural areas, 9 in total. This could indicate a strong focus on the universal delivery, access and post office closings.
