Hurricane Harvey Slams Texas – Mail Disruptions are Occurring and are Expected to Continue

08/26/2017

Hurricane Harvey made landfall early this morning as a category 4. Heavy flooding from 40 inches of rain is occurring. Evacuations started mid-week, including preparations to close USPS processing facilities.

Processing and delivery facilities are closed throughout the affected area. Downgraded to a tropical storm it has slowed and rain damage is expected to continue.

During Katrina, the USPS requested mailers suppress specific zipcodes from the mail. At this time, they have not issued any zips for suppression. A list of zipcodes is available for download at https://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/msu_reports/2017/msureport_082917.xls should you choose to suppress.

As always, we reach out to clients that are directly impacted. If have questions, contact your Client Services Representative at 630.783.9200.
